My mother is not good at giving surprise presents. She gives presents, good ones mostly, but the concept of surprise or keeping it secret has eluded her. She just now unrolled a number of table-runners, all very nice in combination of blues, black and white, which  she's done at the weaving studio here in the village and asked me which one I preferred. Then she asked if she should wrap it up or not.

Well, there'll be no surprise left now, will there, but I told her to wrap it :) Opening presents on Christmas Eve is still fun!!

She also gave me a length of 120 cm wide blue/green shot silk when I woke up. I've not measured it, but I guess at around two metres, slightly more. She was going through some drawers and pulled this length of silk out and asked if I could use it. Sure I can, I said, it'll be some fabulous lining for garb. Maybe I could use it to add facings for my possible bliaut. It might match into the green wool from Pendelton...

So, gifts - fabulous, surprises - not so much.

I forgot to leave a notice, on Tuesday night I got the opportunity to use a large flat space and good lighting. In view of that I brought with me my linen and proceeded to measure, pull thread and cut out all pieces needed for Antonio's shirt. I've not got much left at all, which is good use of my fabric. I even managed to avoid the discoloured hole, which used to be a large discoloured knot in the fabric, entirely.

I shall soon proceed to stitching the pieces together, but first I'm working on finishing my mundane flirty skirt while I've got access to a good sewing machine.

I'd take a photo, but pieces of linen cut out geometrically are quite boring really.
