Right, so, closer inspection of my fabric records shows that I have available to me:

  1. Brown wool (middle weight, bought at this year's MTV),
  2. Green wool (drapey, thin, Pendelton wool, given to me by [livejournal.com profile] oldergodess),
  3. Blue wool (gorgeous thin/middle weight cloth bought at last year's MTV)
  4. Grey wool (thick felt bought at Sundbyberg)
  5. Charcoal wool (very thin suiting weight bought at the remnants bin at Ohlsons)
The things I want to make are as follows:
  1. unlined GFD, laced, plain/buttoned? long sleeves,
  2. short-sleeved laced GFD
  3. tudor kirtle/petticoat, side-laced, fairly deconstructed warm weather wear
  4. Extremely practical surcote for my GFD wardrobe, linked to here
  5. Fitted English Gown (as per The Tudor Tailor) to go over kirtle, pretty and warm
It should not be difficult to match the two lists up, especially taking into account that I was considering making the tudor kirtle (C) out of linen rather than wool.

It shouldn't be difficult. And yet, I can't make my bloody mind up. None of the projects listed above are high class enough for the gorgeous blue cloth (3), so let's just strike that off the list right away.

For the extremely practical surcote (D) I was thinking the grey felt (4) would be perfect.

Of course I justified the purchase of the brown wool (1) with a short-sleeved GFD (B), but now I'm not so sure anymore, the fabric voices stopped talking. For the unlined GFD (A) I want a fabric that drapes and flows beautifully so that points to either the green (2) or the charcoal (5) wool, but they aren't speaking to me either. Besides, didn't I mean to make a bliaut out of the green wool?

As far as option E is concerned that was added after some perusal of inspirational literature. This is a pretty, and for this pretty I could use the blue wool (3). But I'm not certain. The wool is lovely, so very lovely, I think it wants to sit a while longer.

This leaves me with a firm plan for a grey wool felt surcote with extreme practicality! in mind. (Emphasis added to prevent seamstress floating off into dreamland and making very impractical white linen lined flappy tippet-sleeves.)

To be quite honest, the Spanish ropa isn't very practical either, and I would NOT want to wear my one pair of loose 16th C sleeves inside it because it would cheapen the whole look. I need to make a pair of flashy but still warm sleeves to lace into the spanish ropa so I can throw it on for warmth. Otherwise, it will be just another showy piece of garb. Maybe I can knit a pair? Maybe a pair in green brocade, lined for warmth? Perhaps this is yet another item to add to the niggle-list.

The prospect of making another surcote just now, right after I finished the lilac one as my last big project, is not appealing in the least. Which means that my list of one firm prospective project whittles back down to zero that I want to be touching.

I suppose I'll go through my inventory again and add any further little finishing touch to the list and continue working on that rather than starting a new project when the voices aren't speaking to me.

For reference, the updated niggle-list:
  1. woolen hose
  2. leather gloves
  3. tudor court gown foresleeves
  4. french hood
  5. silk veiling
  6. garb repairs of various and sundry nature: hems, ripped seams etc.
  7. sleeves for test doublet
  8. lacing cord for various and sundry gowns
  9. rip open and add eyelets on second side-back seam of tudor court gown
  10. sort out jewelery for 16th C
  11. Manufacture girdle belt with the heart-shaped pomander I have waiting
  12. Make a new bag to replace the ratty one I always use for events (and mundanely too)
  13. one or two secret projects to be given away
  14. Make fichets (pocket slits) happen for the lilac surcote.
  15. Fancy, but warm!, sleeves to lace into the Spanish ropa.
  16. Padded carrying thing for camera at events
