My dress is done! Wheee!

The tudor working class dress had its skirt mounted to the bodice and the hem pinned and sewn up at today's sewing meeting and the dress is completely done and wearable, and gorgeous, and practical, and comfortable, and Wheeeeee!!!

All that is missing now is the headgear an I started a muffin cap, but did not manage to finish it at the meeting. I cut up fabric utterly wrong twice and had to piece the circle out of two rectangles on account of being distracted by bad costuming on Hentry VIII on the TV. I got some lavender baggies out of my first attempt which ended me up with two circles half the size I needed. (I wanted to throw the scraps away, but Agnes quickly found laventer and tied me up some fragrant bags. Voila, they're useful again. I will stick one down my stash suitcase and one in my closet.

The dress by the way, is absolutely fabulous. Very comfortable, very period, very versatile, very comfortable, very lovely, very very very!

Oh yes, almost forgot. I might need sleeves as well. Eventually. (OK, maybe tomorrow). They'll lace on in the armscye and I'll probably make them out of linen since I have no more wool left. Or probably not enough wool in any case.

Did I mention that the dress is fantastic?

Pics in the gallery (Before I did the hemming admittely, but it looks spiff even still) showing me grinning like an idiot and looking VERY much like my paternal grandmother if I say so myself. Took me aback a bit that.

Edited to change to spiffy new icon!
