liadethorneggeLast night I was invited to a barbeque at a friend's house. She had two other friends there who were not SCA, plus me and three other scadians as well - one of which is the dance group leader and about whom I have heard many a thing and not many of them nice. That was a little odd, but I found it more odd that she didn't greet any of us when she came. Her boyfriend, I guess they are a couple? I don't know - it's all confused, did say hi to all of us, shook our hands even. But she just plonked herself down on a chair. May be the rumors preceeding her, but I didn't get a good vibe off her. She certainly is verbal though, and I admire people who know how to express themselves. Well, anyway...
I got an offer to ride with the hostess and Arend in Arend's car down to medieval week. Stay in his tent, ride back, share food etc. I'm almost tempted to say it is an offer I can not refuse, but I am a little worried. The event starts July 30 and ends August 8th. I don't remember exactly which days they were leaving but I think it was like getting there early on sunday and leaving in the middle of the night between saturday and sunday the week after. So an actual full full weeklong event.
I really want to go - it would be awesome, I haven't been to one medieval week yet, nor any other camping events. It would be awesome, and Arend seemed enthusiastic about persuading me along. Another person in the car helps cut down on costs of course - if we can all fit with all the stuff that's needed.
Well, I got home after the bbq and immediately started writing a list of things I would need to bring if I decide to go, also wrote down what sort of thing I would need to pay for and how much and my estimate is somewhere around 2000 SKR for event fee, fuel, ferry to the island and food for a week. And that's not even including stuff I might want to buy once I'm there. No shopping-money in there. Right now I do have enough to cover that in my bank account, but I'm not sure how long I will have to live on the money that I have there. Worst comes to worst I could always ask my parents for money but I hate doing that. Really hate doing that. But then again, I would so love to go to a camping event. It's one of the biggest one for us here. Some 250 people are already registered to go too. It would be so awesome - but it would mean putting the money in, plus making an effort to put together a couple more "average" dresses that I can switch out with. I mean, I can wear the same thing all the time, but I'd like more, and I would like to get the tudor court gown ready to wear for the court which will be held. I know I'd love it all.
If the weather holds.
If I can spend the money.
If I can get all my stuff along.
If I have enough stuff so I won't freeze my ass off sleeping on the ground.
If I have enough outfits.
If I think I have the time.
But man, oh man I wanna go. I just gotta think. Think, Lia, think...
