preparations
2004-07-29 10:23 pmI bought two bedsheets, 60 SKR each, 150x260 cm. Perfect to make chemises out of. The first one I did out of the entire sheet, full length, long tapered sleeves, keyhole neckline. All finished and neat.
The second I did a little mid-thigh length square-cut neckline, long full sleeves, for 15th century underwear. All finished and neat.
I throw these and the linen overdress in the laundry, whites separately, and they come out all clean, but the keyhole neckline is no longer neat. My home-made bias-tape was not turned under enough in one portion so it had kicked up and frayed. Whait did I do? Did I pick up that seam carefully and re-stitch just that little bit down? No.
Did I carefully unpick the bias-tape to replace? No.
My plan was to pick out the bias tape, but I got impatient half-way through and decided to just RIP the bias tape out. That worked - NOT.... so now I have TWO square-cut cotton chemises, one thigh-length the other ankle-length. One tight sleeved the other loose sleeved. Bugger.
I wanted to use the keyhole one underneath the green dress I just finished - of course, I CAN use the one I already have.. yes, yes I could. That one's all hand made too, with a pretty lil trim at the neck. True true. But then I have half that second sheet left. And it is only ten pm on the day before we have to go... erm yes. I think, now that I laid down on my bed that I want to stay down. Or start packing. I should start packing. Make sure I can fit everything. Damned - this event came on too fast!!!
