Term is swinging into gear.
2004-08-28 12:06 pmToday I will be going to the first sewing circle saturday of the term and on Tuesday the first of Aros Tuesday meetings start. I am looking forward to it, because it means that I will be getting out of my room and meeting friends at least once a week regular-lilke. Also, the scriptorium might be starting up again this term which is something I am looking forward to immensly. I never quite understood why it had to close, but this is the SCA we are all strange in some ways.
Anyway, today I'll be bringing my working class tudor to be modified. Ripping out the lining and re-cutting the armscye, probably detaching the skirt because the lining has somehow managed NOT to get sewn in at the waist so that has to be fixed. Plus maybe take the hem up a bit. So that's nothing on a new project for me, but that's alright - I discovered at Visby that I really don't have a pressing need to expand my SCA wardrobe. If need be, I can get on with what I have rather nicely. So then taking hold of the refurbishment of an already finished dress is not so bad at all. Plus we said we would be doing gothic fitted dresses this term - for which I have plenty of linen and an absolutely gorgeous wool as the shell.
I in fact have so much linen that I could make two or three dresses, maybe more, just from that stash. Buying fabric is a very low priority for me this term in other words. I just need to remind myself of that whenever I pass a fabric store and I will be good :)
