Today I'm listening to Duke Timmur from Artemisia and he has a few things I want to remember

First of all, the best advice he got on his vigil was to never Abstain on a Peerage Poll. If you do not know enough about a candidate who is about to be polled to say either Yes or No you are in some way failing in your job as a Peer in the SCA. That's your queue to go out and find out about them and be involved and knowledgeable.
Second: their AoA ceremony is to give each person a dagger and belt, because as they become an Armiger they are trusted to wear live steel in the Royal Presence. And also given an A, to echo the Collar of Estate that the Royalty and Champions wear, to remind them forever that they were made an Armiger in Artemisia and they belong there, and come from there.
He also had some very eloquent words about a consort's role as inspiration, and described several scenarios as "rolling a 20" or "attack of opportunity" and that was adorably charming.
