So I read the book

So I read the latest Harry Potter book. Started it yesterday, finished it today. It wasn't bad at all. Aside from the frantic pace of the book and barely enough signposting of where in the year we were.

Anyway, now continues the worst bit about reading a series as they're being written - waiting for the next one. Incidentally also the last in this series, if we are to trust the author. I wonder what will go down. Undoubtedly I'll manage just fine with the wait though - to me, this is not the most brilliant series ever omg omg omg! that everybody else who reads it seems to think.

Moderately entertaining, I do like the Hogwarts experience, but since that is already an established piece of scenery/prop by book six we don't get as much of that as in the earlier books.

I find it fascinating the amount of time people spend speculating and guessing about what will happen next. I seriously don't understand the point of it. Yes, I can ponder to myself, ooh what about Snape now then, and Ginny's being put on the shelf a bit too easily and what about Dumbledore after this? But I've never considered going back over the first five books with a fine-toothed comb trying to suss out which throwaway line will be the hint that foreshadowed everything in this book and which will be hinting at book seven.

Ah well. I do read - now that I've finished the book - the posts I come across of people digesting it because I'm simply curious like that about what people think. Some ideas seem to be stupid and I scoff at them, others I go 'hmm' at. I'll probably have forgotten it all by the time I get a hold of the last book though as it's not yet written and I'm not about to pre-order that one either.

my daughter thinks that 'the name than can not be mentioned' :) left a piece of himself in Harry and Harry will have to kill himself.or kill him!..I thought that was very good ending, but who knows.

Harry as a Horcrux? I think that's one of the theories I will scoff at, frankly... Don't think it's likely to be the case. As someone said on some thread or another, we didn't sign up for a seven-book jaunt with young Harry only to see him dead in the end. The ending was - hmm - what was it really? I still feel like the Ginny situation is stupid. By the Ginny situation I mean Harry dumping her in order to go off alone with Hermione and Ron tagging along (and everyone knows they will, even Harry the stupid oik). I mean to say, Ginny's not a shrinking violet and can take care of herself just as much as the three others after the DA classes Harry taught them all. For example the revelations Harry waits to reveal to Ron and Hermione until after Ginny leaves - way to trust your girlfriend Harry!

*giggles at herself*

Anyway, I want to see book 7 containing not the trio, but the four-some battling away around the world to find the horcruxes and killing Voldemort. Although if Ginny stays at Hogwarts (because seriously, who thinks Rowling would close down the school? - not me) the three will have a contact to what's going on there, and I think they'll be needing it.

Also think Snape is totally on the good side. Dumbledore begging for his own life at the end? Not likely, I rather think he was begging for Draco's sake. Snape had made the unbreakable vow, and if Draco is to be saved, he had to follow through on it.

Anyway, this is a book which I -might- just read again, it certainly is a page-turner.

Now I have to go off and panic a bit about my event packing - I've done nothing so far!

I agree about Snape and Ginny. Ginny is stronger than she looks and I am looking forward to the book also :). Now rememeber if Voldermort dies all the Horcrux are set free. Yeah, I hope Harry is around for awhile longer :)
