I seriously need practice doing calligraphy. My hand hurts quite a bit after gripping the pen very very tightly. I read somewhere that you should only just hold the pen, such that it could be plucked from the fingers while you write - I am so nowhere near that stage. Of course, I am placing a little blame on the paper - it's not super-smooth and resists me writing on it. Also it smells.

Anyway, I made a few errors in the writing - three to be precise - but scraped them off and corrected such that now I am actually finished with the calligraphy on the model leaf, see for yourselves here. One of the errors can be seen in the photo previous to the one in the link.

Ow, my hand.

Maybe I could do some translating to switch out for a bit. Although no more calligraphy left I now need to outline, which I do with another steel nib pen and my hand doesn't feel very steady at the moment.

In a completely unrelated tangent - This is the coolest thing I've seen done to falling water in, like, EVER.

have you ever tried the "fake vellum" from kreatima? it's not too bad actually, very smooth to write one. no fibres catching the pen and has a nice almost semi-transparent appearance! i was pleasantly surprised with it.

/m

-who dreams about doing it on the real thing. someday when i feel rich...

Not yet I haven't. But I think I got one sheet of that stuff at DW which has been sitting in my scribal kit. I didn't even remember I had it until after I tore it all out looking for my gold.
