Pattens etc

I arrived in fairly good working order, only 45 minutes late which is about par for the Norrland-trains I've come to find.

I did start to feel a bit wobbly when I got a little too warm so I took my brother's two dogs out for a nice long walk around a bit of local water. I was out for an hour and a half or so. It was absolutely delightful.

Then we ate and ate. And ate some more.

Today, I printed out a bunch of the pictures in the links for pattens and headed for the wood-shop where I found my own pet carpenter in the midst of table-making. I fluttered my bits of paper around and he found some lovely bits of pine out of which we've just about managed to craft the first of my pair of pattens before lunch. I took a few photos and I shall continue taking a few more. I sort of expect a pair ready before teatime at this pace. Unless he starts his smithy and forges the nails there that is. In which case it'll be a bit longer.

I am fairly sure we can fix you up a pair for a reasonable cost if you send on over a tracing of your soles. My suggestion would be to leave the affixing of the leather upper as an excersise to do at home, when the patten is on your foot.

...Just ignore the little horny protruberances in my forehead... :)

I will ignore them, but you may want to switch to a gable hood to hide them ;)

I don't know how my feet would react to walking in pattens, but I would love to have some. And I would also love giving my husband a pair. He would be both surprised and happy.

Hmm, I'll have to think about this. I don't want to take advantage of you(r dad). Maybe we should discuss this via e-mail.
I'll get back to you when I have thought some more.
