I've been fiddling a little with my site, and I decided to make up picture pages of the finished outfits. I started with the cotehardie and kirtle diary, pulled out the pictures I have of me in the finished ensemble put it on a page of its own and linked it off the diary.

I did the same to the Tudor court gown and once I get back later today I'll see about the other dress diaries. Maybe I won't fix it up for the disaster-bliaut, but we'll see. I figure if people have a choice of spending ages going through the dress diary or looking at the finished product, more might opt to actually look at the pages altogether rather than shove off somewhere else.

Well, in any case, I'm excellent at procrastination you know.... I'm up early to write a little more on my essay and I go ahead and update my pages instead. Sheesh! Well, we'll see who has the last laugh! I'm gonna stay on campus for a bit after my ten o'clock peer-meeting and write in the computer lab there! I can't procrastinate that much in there.

I ought to get back to working on my scribal stuff somewhat regularly. It was so great to have every other saturday for that, but the hostess got preggers and now she doesn't want to host it anymore. She may resurrect it in a new form, like grand scriptoriums over a weekend once every six months. This is great, except I know I will slip back to beginner level in the time between if I don't do anything at home.

My problem at home is that I have no space to leave the stuff set up, so it's a great big task just to pull everything out, set up and then I might start doing something. It is a matter of thresholds.

I suppose I shouldn't complain about lack of regularly hosted scriptoriums if I don't pony up myself, but you see the problem with me hosting is that I live in a twelve person dorm. The times people have to come over here and do illumination is week-nights five to ten which is also when all the kids are here in the dorm and running in and out of the kitchen. And since I have only two chairs and no desk free for scribal use, it would have to mean us sitting in the kitchen. How much fun is that on a scale? And how much can you concentrate in the general thoroughfare of a twelve person dorm? Right. So I really can't do anything but moan.

I bring it up every now and again at Tuesday lectures, and we have one other lady of the shire who was -just- getting started with scribal stuff when the former hostess shut the bi-weekly scriptorium down. This other lady does have an actual apartment of her own, relatively central, living on her own. But I doubt anything will happen at her place.

So, I guess I'm stuck with having to do it myself. Where it comes back to thresholds. Maybe if I rearranged my furniture, put the desk in the middle of the room and used it from both sides, moving the stereo somewhere else... but then where would the daybed go? I have no space either, apart from no desk-surface and chairs.
