Experimenting
2006-07-06 09:16 pmI've been playing around with the burn-pen and a piece of scrap wood working out how to make a nice-looking checkers board for
helwig. So far that's the only thing I have to go on - she didn't know what she wanted on the reverse - but it's quite enough. I thought I'd try using some blackwork patterns to fill in the dark squares on the board. I printed out a few and tried them out on the scrap piece.
I think it looks neat, but I'm not sure if I want to use the same one pattern on all dark squares or if I should go fancy and do all different kinds. If I should align them so that half the board is "up" one way, and the other half the opposite. Or do one row of directional patterns - or do only the middle two non-directional. I dunno. It's fun playing around with it in any case :)
Also not sure I want to post a picture of my testing or not, so until I decide it will be "not" :)
Not sure what I can rustle up for game pieces. After a little bit of research checkers takes 2 x 12 pieces apparently. We'll see. Maybe I can get bone.
Most of my free time is now spent lolling about in the garden in the gorgeous sunny weather we're having. There are seats all around the garden here so I can move around with the sun or shade exactly as I please.
