Success! The newbie came to sewing circle and we did our best not to overload her. She said she'd be coming on Tuesday as well, so that's good :)
As far as sewing was concerned - well, I got off to a slow start, and
helwig an even slower start. After the newbie left (she couldn't stay long, had to go home to her dog) we had tea, then popped on Luther and I got to work folding down about an inch of the skirt on the surcote lining kirtle to give it a bit of oomph at the waist.
I finished that fairly quickly, then we had pizza for dinner, and after Luther finished we watched "Primary Colors" while I whipstitched the skirt to the bodice.
helwig abandoned costuming and went all out on making a coronet that will personify bling.
Just as the movie ended I was able to try on the kirtle properly and it looks good. I managed to get the pleats in the back at a good place (a total of four there) but the front pleats (only two) could have been moved further back. I'll see if I leave it as is or if I'll change it after I have pressed the seam and tried it on with proper underwear. I'll take a picture or two of that as well, as I'll probably do that tomorrow.
Forgot the camera, so no new photos today.
And now, now I'm completely knackered.
