Gathered partlet
So then, here it is, a first look at my gathered partlet. I took the photo when I finished the neckline, on Tuesday I think it was. It's been at this stage since then waiting for the outside of the collar, which I've been meaning to embroider. My plan was to outline the design with stem stitch and then fill it in using satin stitch. All in white DMC embroidery floss.

Would that work? What does the assembled expertise think? Not sure what kind of stitch would be best - nor have I decided on the design. I hope to finalize that on Saturday over at [livejournal.com profile] helwig's place - she has the resources.

Oh and also, the second pair of braies are finished. Have a look.

Very pretty.

Regarding the embroidery - Satin stitch with stem stitch outline is probably appropriate, though I *think* its something that was more popular in the Elizabethan period when polychrome embroidery appears. Probably help when you have a design in mind.

Your braies are good. I may need to get a pair made for Edmund (not explaining why at the moment though - sorry!)

Thank you :)

I am thinking about scrolling vines sort of thing. I don't want to go overboard or I won't be able to finish it. I also kind of want to have it done for Civil War (event for next weekend) but that my be a bit too optimistic.

I took a few photos of me wearing my braies, but decided I didn't want to put those on the 'net :)

It'll be interesting to hear more about braies from you - tantalizing us with hints, eh?

I would think blackwork. Outline the figure and fill it in with some diaper pattern. It would have been easier to embroider it before you put it together, but it will be doable nonetheless.

Yes, but my heart is set on whitework. I suppose a collar with scrolling stuff might be a cool place to do some filling patterns though... It bears pondering :)

Also, the collar is not attached as yet. Well, half of it is - the inside is stitched on, but the outside where I want embroidery, is still not attached so that's no problem.

Oh, whitework would be lovely too.
