I did it. Finally. Two pairs. O Woolies (Large) and Wool Slouch. I'm stupidly excited.

Squee!

p.s. Blame? Firmly on [livejournal.com profile] frualeydis :)

Specifically Wool Socks (the ones without heels) $8 / pair, $20 / 3 pr. Which are over the knee even for me (size 24).

Cool.

But, I'm puzzled, what does it mean about "no heels"? I fully admit I'm not a knitting expert of any kind, but, I just don't get it.

"no heels" Essentially they're really really tall tube socks.

Oh, I see: kind of allowed to stretch over the heel and bunch up ontop. Thanks for the explanation.

I would want the O Woolies if they came in colours, or at least black. Do you think the spandex would die if one dyed them?

I have no idea - I've never tried dyeing anything in my life.

wait, spandex - do you mean the elastic? Would that die if you dyed them? No, I wouldn't think so. It might not take the colour as the wool, but you wouldn't treat the socks any worse while dyeing than in a regular wash... right?

All the wool dyestuffs I've seen need near-boiling temperatures to bind properly to the fibre. You can't allow it to boil of course or it'll felt, but you need to get it pretty hot. I have no idea if elastic can take that or not. And btw, I hope you don't believe I don't like the look of the undyed socks - it's just one of those things that look good only on other people.

Aah - well, as I said, I never tried dyeing anything ever so I'm sure you're right.

As far as not liking the colour - I don't mind one bit that you're not fond of it. I don't like pink for the most part, that's not a personal comment on anyone :)
