A project to add to my to-do list

I had brought with me some red wool up north to possibly do something with. Well, I did nothing and just now, as I was about to cut into it to make a carrying bag, one of those sort of triangular ones, I realized that: no. No, it does not need to become a bag.

This cut of wool (70 x 94 cm) needs to become one of those open hoods you see on all the GFD women!

• Marie-Chantal's red hood. (With the long tail, which I might need to skip)
• Marie Chantal's Burgundian hood site with lots of pictures.

Pretty much all the pictures shows this type of open hood as being red. I may have slightly too thick wool for it, but feh. If I line it I will only put white linen inside the head, or probably do what MC does and wear something of linen underneath it (will need to make that bit too).

Well, I feel all energised about it now - hurray! I was planning on borrowing the pattern that I know helwig has got at home for this. I have made a hood before, but it is wildly over-sized and I like the small hood Helwig got out of her pattern. So there it is. Now I just need to stitch it up.

By lady-in-waiting has a really cute hood. It doesn't have a liripipe but it does come down the back to cover the neck and shoulders. When I nect go to see her I plan on trying it on and taking a pattern ... but will have to wait until the end of March for this.

Helwig did in fact have a hood I could take the design from. But when it came time to cut it out of my wool I got all uncertain. Now I must inspect my visual sources and decide if I want it to look just like Helwig's hood or slightly different.

I'm all a-waffle, I know, I can't decide. It'll be lovely, I'm sure. I already have a hood with a neck and shoulder cover, this red one's just meant to be pretty, not warm like the big black one.

But then again, using the pattern off a hood you know fits is the simplest way to get it done, isn't it.
