And here we are. The cuffs all stitched up. Except for at the ends where I might add either ties, or a pair of hook and eye for closure purposes. I must in either case purchase supplies to accomplish the task, as I have nothing suitable for ties, nor any hooks/eyes in the house. Most distressing.

Date: 2007-05-11 08:37 am (UTC)Anyway, no, I don't have dates for hooks and eyes. I know for certain they were used in the 16th Century, but further than that I have no proof or even an idea of when they might be correct.
However, it's just a little bit of wire bent in appropriate shapes, and solid cast hooks and eyes have been used for a long time in history.

Date: 2007-05-11 08:38 am (UTC)I think I made the box pleats too big for cuffs, but that's the way they are, no changing it now. I even tried starching them, which worked nicely. For a neck ruff I'll probably double the box pleats to twice the size, and make the ruff big longer.
