I can't believe I forgot to mention
2007-06-05 02:02 pmI just checked back over my entries on Double Wars and I can't believe I forgot to mention the artisan's showcase, A&S display thingy. Well, I brought my Sture shirt, version 2.0 to show and tell. The cuff embroidery on those were not done, and it's still not done, but the collar was finished and mounted and I had the ties in place. I had the ruffs stitched into the sleeves, and just pinned the half-finished cuff embroidery to the sleeves to show the stages of it.
I was given many positive comments and people were all agog at my embroidery, which was very gratifying knowing it took me very little effort to do. I like an efficient technique. I kept telling people it is quite an easy pattern and it works up quickly.
Anyway, at the end of the showcase I went to collect my shirt and Lady Fiona had left a token pinned to it. It's a little golden dragon on a string. She had left tokens on all the pieces, but I still felt like I had won something when I saw it. I went "Squee!" and I wore it pinned to my dress the rest of the event, showing it off to everyone.
This just goes to prove that tokens of appreciation for artisans, however small, really do make a difference. And I am beating myself up for not having prepared stuff to leave myself. Bad Lia, no cookie! I did bring one of the paintbrush roll-ups, which I gave to Ailitha for hosting the scriptorium.
