liadethornegge: (embroidery)

I just checked back over my entries on Double Wars and I can't believe I forgot to mention the artisan's showcase, A&S display thingy. Well, I brought my Sture shirt, version 2.0 to show and tell. The cuff embroidery on those were not done, and it's still not done, but the collar was finished and mounted and I had the ties in place. I had the ruffs stitched into the sleeves, and just pinned the half-finished cuff embroidery to the sleeves to show the stages of it.

I was given many positive comments and people were all agog at my embroidery, which was very gratifying knowing it took me very little effort to do. I like an efficient technique. I kept telling people it is quite an easy pattern and it works up quickly.

Anyway, at the end of the showcase I went to collect my shirt and Lady Fiona had left a token pinned to it. It's a little golden dragon on a string. She had left tokens on all the pieces, but I still felt like I had won something when I saw it. I went "Squee!" and I wore it pinned to my dress the rest of the event, showing it off to everyone.

This just goes to prove that tokens of appreciation for artisans, however small, really do make a difference. And I am beating myself up for not having prepared stuff to leave myself. Bad Lia, no cookie! I did bring one of the paintbrush roll-ups, which I gave to Ailitha for hosting the scriptorium.

Awww, I love little tokens. :) Do you put yours in an I-don't-suck box?

Heh, well I've never called it that, but, yes, I have a little box of event tokens. I haven't received any other kind of tokens (other than this little gold dragon) as yet. I haven't put the dragon away anywhere, yet, though. I found it while rummaging which was what brought on this post.

I always feel geeked when someone leaves something at my display. I love the tradition of leaving tokens and really need to come up with something to leave.
As Vicereine, I wove some little bookmark tokens to hand out when I thought people were being particularly awesome...not just in A&S. I loved handing them out and seeing people's reactions.

That is great to hear :)

You would definitely have gotten a token off me if I had remembered to make any! And while I am on the subject, the pattern for the red silk TW with the turning pattern, do you have a link to it?

I try to remember to tell people when I think they are doing great stuff. I did remember to thank your Lord for singing in the tavern one of the days. It was lovely as a backdrop.

Here is the link to the twist patterned band patterns. The are in the last link on the right, but you will need Guntram's GTT to view them. It's an easy download... if I remember correctly. I started with the 40 card patterns then played around a bit after repeating those a while.
