Would anyone think me strange if I admitted to gleaning obscene amounts of glee from ironing a shirt?

I mean, I threw my Sture shirt v 2.0 in the wash yesterday, let it dry and today, just now, I put it on the ironing board and got to work on it, and let me tell you it was a pleasure to straighten that linen. Spritzing it with water and applying the hot iron. Oooh, baby! It's a little bit of geometry and a little technical challenge to get into the pleats around the collar and cuffs, but when you're all done it's a shiny white shirt.

ua 006Yesterday, myself and [livejournal.com profile] helwig went into one of the bookstores in town and let me tell you, they had one display case of pure desire. Hand bound notebooks with gorgeous covers. Small ones, medium sized ones, and large ones. Some looked leather bound, with the binding exposed on the coolest ones, and one with the front basically taken from the book of Kells. You know, the chi rho page. Man, oh man it was hard to tear myself away from looking and touching them. I really, really do not need any more notebooks (or pens) and every time I go into a stationery store I want to take at least one of each home with me. And those notebooks... Phew! Hotness!

And have I mentioned lately how I love the SCA? No? Well, I do. It's a fabulous little sect group to belong to. The people, the skills, the crafts, the pretty pretty things! There are people in the SCA who can be held up as heroes and idols in so many different ways, and they live up to it. And you meet such good-looking, well-dressed, nice, tall and handsome men too.

Absolutely not! Ironing linen can be most gratifying!!

And I am so feeling your pain with regard to those gorgeous notebooks! *swoon* I am such a paper freak. I really get a thrill in stationary stores. Yummy!

there is a shop here in Lugano where the owner makes almost ALL the books ( blank, scrap, etc...) himself. he has a small book bindery in the back of teh shop. This is the same shop that sells abraxas inks and various assorted pennib, waxs seals etc...

I can't go in this shop without nerves of steel to NOT buy stuff.

Of course we are talking about the person who spends hours online looking for paper companies, talking to the reps and getting free samples. I LOVE paper.

maybe at the next university if I can make it I'll teach a book binding class.

I think scribes belong to teh cult of paper and pens and inks and all things to do with this.
I salivate over paper...just not ON it!

cheers

ps. have a source for pergamenata now if you are interested. Infos on the dragon scribes blog

That is, clearly, "The Little Shop of Temptation"! :)

I saw the notes on pergamenata, I'm tempted, but I don't have any loose money to spend on paper right this second. If we meet at an event and you have papers to sell, I'll probably buy.
