And now a short report: I walked over there in the horrid weather, windy and raining, and arrived to find UlfR speaking about the tools of the Mästermyr-chest, and generally the kinds of tools that were available to the medieval wood-worker. Before long he had all interested parties working on making their own spoons, as per the schedule.
For myself I took out my splendor solis kirtle and shortened the shoulder straps by about 2 cm on each side. Not until I put it on afterwards did I realise that I should probably have taken the excess off from the back portion of the straps, rather than the front, as the seam now ends up forward of my shoulders. However, the back of this kirtle is quite high, and the shoulderstrap coming from behind is rather wide so I would have had to do much more futzing around with it to get it to flow nicely. Anyway, it is not too noticeable when worn, and in any case, I put on my waistcoat on top last night, so it was not visible at all.
Helwig worked on the little corset for her porcelaine doll. Tagai - what he wants to call himself in the SCA he has not decided - played some flute. The children ran around making noise, and general socialising happened.
Then we had a delicious dinner consisting of pork pie, frumenty and a chicken stew, cooked for us by UlfR, served buffet style and costing very little. It was most pleasant, and I hope for even more people at next month's micro-event.
