Pictures and Edits
2008-08-11 04:40 pmI've started going through my Visby photos, whittling it down to the better ones. A first culling brought the 250 odd photos down to 193. Now I'm down to 173 after a second inspection.
I did not photograph as much this year - probably down to participating a bit more. The philosophical question of participant and spectator still troubles me a little in the execution. I have to remind myself to slow down and experience the events. Not having my camera means I can experience things fuller, but having it means capturing memories to share.
The first night on site we saw about a dozen gentles setting up an enormous viking A-frame in the dark, back-lit by a car's headlights - that is an image that only exists in my internal memory. A good camera might have captured it, as the sight was quite effectful but I do not have a good enough camera, and so enjoyed catching it in my mind instead.
I have also pulled out a few duplicates, or otherwise random shots that shows someone in a good way, which I will send out to the parties in question. I know I always like to get photos of myself, no matter how bad the picture itself may be, or if there is a similar one on display.
Oh, another thing to report from the event - I managed to miss every single one of the A&S workshops, guild meetings and get-togethers. Aside from the Brewery guild meeting. Not quite the report I thought I'd be filing. Ah, well.
