Well, I'm looking at my galleries and I realize two things:
a) I need to finish the waist seam of the doublet bodice kirtle before I can stitch the pieces together. Somehow, I need to finish this edge altogether - Right now, I've no clue what to do about it. With the enthusiastic overstitching alon all edges I can't really just turn the seam allowance in and slipstich it closed because, there's the overstitching along the edges. Maybe I just need to rip out the last bits, tuck raw ends in and proceed from there.
and
b) My GFD sleeves look wierd. Most likely this is down to me cutting the sleeve-pattern in TWO halves. Why did I do this? Well, my patterning skills and laying it out on the lining fabric was a horrid experience which - for some reason I can not for the life of me remember now - I solved by cutting the sleeve in half.
Oh wait, I do remember. I wanted the flared sleeves, and I thought it would turn out best if I had opportunity to flare it out at two seams over the hand rather than just the one normal seam along the back of the arm. Hmm, well, with the angle I wanted at least that is true - it would not have had the same flare over the hands if I had kept it as a single pattern piece. However, I think my sleeves look odd in the latest picture of me wearing the dress. It might not be down to the sleeve being in two halves, in which case it's not that "tweaking" that went awry, but rather the pattern itself is not well fitted enough.
It is true that I did not make a toile for the sleeves at all. I just drew the pattern according to the MTA book, checked to make sure the sleevehead was the same length as my armscye and ran with it.
I didn't hook up my new HDD either, but I got the Tower itself going without any problems. I need some expert assistance from brother to fiddle with hardware and he seems to be non-responsive. So, maybe tomorrow I'll have my nice big disk running.
and there I fell asleep in the middle of posting.
