Yes, I am aware of the time, but I just finished watching the season 5 finale of CSI Las Vegas. A double-long episode, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino and let me tell you, it was SCREAMINGLY obvious that it was Tarantino's work. He can only do one thing and he has by now done it to death in every one of his productions.

I was sorely disappointed. The episode had several points at which it did great, only to be spoiled the very next second by another Tarantino "touch" and it annoyed the hell out of me. CSI is a great show, what jackass let Tarantino anywhere near it just because he's a name? How could they let him screw it all up? I know we are supposed to guess along with the CSIs which is the next clue, and where it will lead, and the filming gives that away, but, for instance in the interview with the perps daughter, she mentions she worked as in horticulture, and up until this point the team have established that her father is the guy, and all the clues they were given pertain to her case. Styrofoam cup, murder scene and all, and for Sara to miss this comment is to me inconcievable.

Then, Hodges discovers that the pits on the underside of the exemplar plexiglass coffin were in fact wired with explosives and tells that to Grissom. All they do to get Nick out of the hole is attach a rope to his belt and yank him out of there - that just about killed me. For fuck's sake! You'd break the guy's back, you wouldn't get enough leverage and you would not be fast enough to equalize his weight. (They weren't the thing exploded - need special effects and blowing things up is cool right? Like how the perp blows himself up before this). And in any case, they had just removed three feet of dirt from on top of the coffin! If this weight differential wasn't enough to blow it all up, one human being isn't going to make a fricking difference.

Also, the conclusion that the explosives were on weight-triggers - where the hell did that come from? Did Grissom just pick that out of the ambient brain waves left by the perp? What the hell?

Augh. I can say I am very disappointed, extremely disappointed, and somebody for the love of originality, needs to tell Quentin high-and-mighty Tarantino to find something NEW to do instead of re-doing the same thing over and over and over and .... Gack. CSI has been tainted by Tarantino :(

Also, what the hell was with the closing shot being on the girl in jail?

I saw it last Thursday and was pretty disapointed. I didn't like what Tarantino did with it. It wasn't in the style of CSI.

Not so that I noticed it in that case. There are a few scenes with lots and lots of people around, but he did not take a stand-out role if he was in it.

They did do the "witty story told in retrospect while handling a gun" which just made me cringe.
