I resisted for an entire day
2005-06-03 04:20 pmIn the end the temptation grew too big to resist. I've now cut out the body parts of a new 15th C dress, using my fitted pattern. I cut it in four panels, flaring out at sides and centre front and back. This took 310 cm of fabric, leaving me enough on the side of the bodice section of my cuts to lay out my sleeves alongside. This is excellent! I can, if needed, get away with 3 metres for an entire dress with sleeves. Awesome to know.
I've not yet cut out the sleeves, I only just folded out the oddly shaped piece left over from cutting the body panels and tested my pattern over it. No problem fitting it on there. Before I can cut out the sleeves however, I must iron the fabric as the crease at the centre line is a bit too pronounced to play nicely.
Also, cutting this linen is an absolute dream.
