On Saturday, two days from now, I'm due to pack all my stuff in the car and trailer and head to Visby for MTV -05 (Medeltidsveckan 2005). It would be good to, at that point, have all my stuff in bags so I don't have to carry everything item by item.

This in mind, how much have I then done toward the packing and organizing? Zip, nada, niente - nothing. I have written an entry here on LJ with the clothes I planned on bringing, true, so I suppose I have that. I also still have the list of things for last year's event. I also remembered to put my rechareable camera batteries in the charger and plugged it into the wall so I'll not run out there, but that is as far as my preparations have gone.

I've pretty much given up entirely on having the ropa with me. I don't bloody well know what to do about the collar, I don't know where along the shoulders I should stitch in the sleeves and I have nothing in the form of shoulder-decoration done or planned. The Gothic Army Dress is likewise not likely to be finished since I have not taken a single stitch on it after the last sewing update on that front. The sleeves are still attached and the seam allowance for five centimetres under the arm is still precariously small and I have no clue what to do about it. I also need to do buttons, buttonholes and about fifty eyelets on it to be wearable. Plus hemming of course. I'm calling it a lost cause I think as I can't seem to muster the enthusiasm needed to work on it at all.

I've done none of the alterations to older gowns that I wanted to do, and I've yet to attach the lacing strips in the arm of the tudor working class gown for sleeves.

Without the ropa as well I have nothing warm and all-covering to put on at night and in rain :( I have my hood still, and thank the heavens for that, so I can pop that on and feel reasonably snug for a bit longer into the evenings, but I'll freeze with no large garment of wool to put over myself when it comes to late at nights.

If I felt I could trust the sewing machine and felt like I could cheat I do have four metres of wool that was bought with the express purpose of a 15th Century surcote. But I don't feel I can cheat and make it on the machine, and I don't think I can trust the machine to sew through that wool either.

Well, I'll survive it I'm sure - after all, I survived my first Drachenwald event (October Crown) with one dress only. I wore t-shirt and leggings and mundane winter boots underneath my one dress. Well, we shall see what happens. I'm sure I'll be able to cram everything into bags tomorrow... no guarantee I'll remember it all though.
