So, I've looked through old pictures and I've come to the conclusion that my flat cap works as it is. If I put it on properly it looks fine. But I still want to make a new version, with a larger crown. Possibly from black velvet. Anyway, things are good there.

I've also surfed up some more portraits to ponder for inspiration for my green brocade. I rather like this portrait of Eleonora of Toledo, especially the sleeves wich start with standing, gathered loops and then looks to continue as four-panel-sleeves. All the catching points are also accentuated by "spangles" which look to be four pearls, or glass beads, threaded on a pin. I could do that. This portrait has a pickadil border around the neckline. I'm still somewhat sceptical of that kind of partlet, only because I'm not sure I could pull one off successfully. And I don't have that many pearls. Looks like side-back or back-closing too.

Hmmm, not sure about the flatcap - I think it's fine.

I like how the border continues above and along the sleeves. As for the pearl issue, is there a problem with using plastic ones? It seems those should be fairly easy to find and cheap. I agree about the partlet being a bit tricky, but that's because it's a geometric pattern, and those seem to be hard to pull off well (drawing my own device is always a challenge).

I wonder if there are any nice pictures of men's ornamentation using pearls - why should girls have all the fun...
