Lia's gallery :: An Elizabethan Cape of wool cloth:
I couldn't resist a moment longer. There's a picture of one of my inspirations in the gallery, as well as a shot of the fabrics and of the shell fabric cut out.

Looking at the third picture, if you just fill in the gaps top and bottom to make the piece of cloth perfectly rectangular that is the amount of wastage I have (the dimensions are 80 cm tall including a 10cm high collar and 75cm wide ).

Look back on old entries here for more inspirational portraits and documentation.

Now, to bed.

Naptime?

So I've been fondling my cape wool for a bit, and I find that one side has a little more of a nap than the other and I wonder, which side ought I to use on the outside?

I can imagine that having the nap out might make it more resistant to stuff, but the smoother side would be better at shedding water, or am I wrong in this?

If anyone has any opinions or documentation for which way to go on this, I'd be very grateful.

Yesterday I went ahead and filled in the pre-reg form over at the DW website. I've said I'll come on Saturday the 20th and leave on Sunday the 28th, and included all breakfasts and lunches, plus indoor sleeping. It ends up a tidy sum, but not unreasonable for such a cool event.

I got the confirmation letter from the troll today, so I've been registered, now I need to pay before May 1st or loose the spot.

Now to get to and from the site: I checked out train fares down, and today I saw tickets "Just Nu 2 Klass" at 260 SEK to get from Uppsala to Hässleholm. From there it's either public transportation or pick-up by site crew.

That's all according to last year's game plan of going there by train and getting a ride home. This of course depends on me getting a ride back home :)

After getting the SJ site to cooperate with me I see that return tickets on the Sunday are twice as expensive, but going home on a Saturday train they're again down to 260 SEK.

Hmm, I am pondering, pondering.

This year, I am again going to go to Double Wars down in Attemark. For this event there are a few things that I'd like to get done. To wit: )
