Just to say, I wasn't finished with the green. I filled in the remaining background in brick stitch and then outlined the two halves of my needlebook in chain stitch using the green. Now I've got to decide on the rest of my colours. Oh, the indecision.

I also, really, want to finish up the sleeves of my English fitted gown, because the silk facing/picadil is slowly unravelling where I've left the edges raw. Maybe I have to go in there and finish it off neatly before I add the lining.

What experience teaches me... )
...is that the next time I start on one of these projects I wait to do the background until last. Because if you do it first, you get those unsightly white gaps when the vines need to turn corners. Or when the space you've left is too wide to be covered up by a single row of chain stitches. This time I'm glad it is my own needlebook that I started with, because I wouldn't want to give this away to someone.
