Hanging around
2006-08-27 01:57 pmWell, I've now come to the point of pinning the skirt to the bodice to let it all hang out. Here's how the skirt looks, laid out on the floor. Definite a-line. You can see the seam in the back panel at the hem.
The skirt is, at this point, about 10 cm too long, and at the waist a little too short, so I'll let the hems drop, then I'll take off a bit from the top, mount it properly and then I'll even out the hems at around ankle length. I tried it on experimentally, and the few pleats I made at the waistline were not quite perfectly placed. For the front section it's fine, but the back has to accomodate for my behind, so I need a couple of pleats back there, plus one at the hips if I can manage it. Taking down from the top means that the circumference there will be bigger, which will mean I'll be able to get more pleats in.
Status: still smug about the project.
