Spent the day today in town, being all cultural with the rest of the inhabitants of the region. It was 'CultureNight' which officially starts at, like, 7 pm, but goes from ten am for the enthusiastic. Highlight of the day: two Charlie Chaplin silent films with live piano accompaniment. Awesome.
I did some shopping as well. I very nearly brought home a number of books, but refrained. However, when we got to the arts and crafts store (Uppsala Färg) I could not contain my glee, excitement and purchase-lust, so I now own a number of essential tubes of W&N Designer Gouach, plus a plastic mixing tray with four divots and a bamboo mat in which to roll up my paintbrushes. Yes, I splurged - but I have been waiting so long to find a store in town that sells gouache paints! Hurray! Hurrah!
Of course, being in the know, I know that the only reason they have those tubes now is that they have a new employee who is well into calligraphy and knew what brand to get. Hurray! Hurrah! Vivat! for her.
Now maybe I'll be inspired to do some scrolls despite the lack of organized time for it. Although knowing me, it's still highly unlikely - I definately need the fixed time to do illumination and/or calligraphy, preferably with someone. Sewing I can actually do on my own, but it's very rare that I pull out my scribal stuff.
