Now if only I could figure out what this memories thing is or does....

You know, I did think of something worthwhile I could put in here, but I forgot it again.
Oh yes! Now I remember! My cloak!
I am so nearly nearly finished with it! I have sewn the strips over the seams along, leaving gaps for arms in the front two, have buttons on one of these, but need to add two more and purchase more buttons to go in the other armslit. I have also now started putting on the collar! I am about one third done with that, just need to attach the collar on the outside nice and neat in a special stitch I can't find the link to right at this moment. The collar is constructed the same way as the cloak, black wool on the outside lined in the black and white stripey-slubby linen. The lining will also be stitched down to the inside in the same way as on the outside, to make it secure and to give a little extra help to prevent fraying. I may also just add a strip along that seam to make it extra smooth, but not sure yet.
I also have the cloak clasp ready to go in a little paper bag. I will probably attach that to the cloak proper, not the collar. But I've been pondering a bit on making it reversible. I think my cloak looks pretty spiffy either way around, and it is all handsewn by me and I have the scarred fingers to prove it!
Even found a needle I'd lost still attached to a t-shirt I had just taken off and thrown in the dirty clothes box when I did my laundry a couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd lost a needle so started again with a new, but it turned up.

Mine is purple (yes I know) with a taupe (grey/beige) lining. The purple is wool, washed and dried and the lining twill (washed and dried). NOT hand sewed (I stand in awe!). I can wear min inside out, I lined it that way. I have a hood, not a collar and am trying to decide if I want arm holes (will have to take out and make a facing, but can do). I am going to put buttons at the top (need to go find on Monday, note to self, buy seam lining too). Your cloak sounds wonderful, I am so proud and can not wait to see picture.

Hey your cloak sounds cool too! And handsewing it means mostly just straight seams, not very difficult at all. Just takes a bit of time. And in addition to the collar I have a separate hood to wear, that's the first piece of garb I did. That one is black wool on the outside and a yellow cotton (I think) brocade on the inside, and the cuff around the face is fairly long so I keep it folded back and showing about five inches of the lining material. It looks quite good if I do say so myself. Also handsewn :)
