Memories and a cloak
2003-02-16 06:08 pmNow if only I could figure out what this memories thing is or does....
You know, I did think of something worthwhile I could put in here, but I forgot it again.
Oh yes! Now I remember! My cloak!
I am so nearly nearly finished with it! I have sewn the strips over the seams along, leaving gaps for arms in the front two, have buttons on one of these, but need to add two more and purchase more buttons to go in the other armslit. I have also now started putting on the collar! I am about one third done with that, just need to attach the collar on the outside nice and neat in a special stitch I can't find the link to right at this moment. The collar is constructed the same way as the cloak, black wool on the outside lined in the black and white stripey-slubby linen. The lining will also be stitched down to the inside in the same way as on the outside, to make it secure and to give a little extra help to prevent fraying. I may also just add a strip along that seam to make it extra smooth, but not sure yet.
I also have the cloak clasp ready to go in a little paper bag. I will probably attach that to the cloak proper, not the collar. But I've been pondering a bit on making it reversible. I think my cloak looks pretty spiffy either way around, and it is all handsewn by me and I have the scarred fingers to prove it!
Even found a needle I'd lost still attached to a t-shirt I had just taken off and thrown in the dirty clothes box when I did my laundry a couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd lost a needle so started again with a new, but it turned up.
