So, from the list of last update strike out petticoat. It is done, finished, hemmed, pleated to a waistband and has short ties to knot it in the back. I debated going with side-closing, but I had that convenient seam up the centre back, along two selvedge edges, so I went for that instead. I did a bit of scavenging - taking the bias strip that used to bind the top edge on my first corset (the one that was made in far too flimsy material to hold up to holding me in) and sewing that to the waist by machine. At the same time I attached the ties in the back, simple tubes of the same linen as the skirt made from some scraps. End result, green linen petticoat! I think it looks spiff, and if I need to I can reuse it enormously. I also had to skimp a bit to cut it out, if you remember, well, that certainly doesn't show in the hemline it reaches the floor quite comfortably when I'm standing in my bare feet.

I now have the plan for the skirt as well. I will do the same as for the petticoat, line up the edges, sew 1.5 or 2 centimetres in, zigzag the inner seamallowance together and press to the side. Do the same for lining (already done) and the wool of the shell, then combine with nice sices out, finish the front opening, pleat the waistline and attach to the bodice.
The bodice has also come a little way - I did three eyelets. That just doesn't get any more fun. I had to stop that and go back to my blackwork after those three eyelets and the blackwork is very very close to done on the false undersleeves. I just need three more diamonds filled in and that is done! Except then I need to pleat the sleeves to get the right circumference to my wrists. I started that on the first sleeve, but it was EXTREMELY boring so I put it down in the hopes it might improve with time or something.
Anyway, I'm happy with my petticoat, it looks nice. And I'm working on the dress diary still, but an embryo is up at my mirror.
