Pictures long overdue
2012-12-06 02:04 pmI eventually managed to upload an album of photos of the progess of Filippa's black and white coif. It's not even a tenth of the number of photos I have of it and its inspiration.
Still, shows the progress: https://picasaweb.google.com/107008157819245320875/MetalThreadEmbroideredCoif

Date: 2012-12-06 02:51 pm (UTC)Anyway, It is basically laced together through the edge stitches at the top. The front third at least. The back third of the top seam is gathered with a silk fingerloop cord I provided. The nape is also gathered with a silk fingerloop cord through the buttonhole bars. I just went through and added captions. I haven't got a good shot of the top of the coif though. Or maybe just the one. I'll see if I can upload that too.

Date: 2012-12-06 02:57 pm (UTC)Is it stem stitch? backstitch? for outlines?
I'm doing my first, very basic, blackwork in over 10 years, for some cuffs, using waste canvas. It's as repetitive as I remember! But I'm using double running stitch, whereas I don't see any running stitch here.
