Dukal interview - Albrecht von Rugen

Sir Rauokinn and Sir Kelwin interviews Duke Albrecht from Avacal. His journey, and he seems like a mellow, thoughtful kind of guy.
He was the third and eleventh Prince of Avacal, and then when they were made kingdom he won the first crown and got to start that lineage.
He talks about preparing for a crown list: mentally, emotionally and physically; does he have something tangible he can do to improve the Principality or Kingdom, is his consort interested and up for it, is the bank account up for it, is the body in order - those must be prepared beforehand in order for him to do well in a tournament.
Super groovy dude all in all.

Date: 2020-07-25 06:09 pm (UTC)I've meant to take a closer look at the Athanaeum, but haven't managed it yet: What's the format? Did you attend a Laurel Sponsored Display here at Raglan, Double Wars or Cudgel?
The plan was to have a virtual one for Virtual Raglan, but we could only get 1 hour slot, and that's not enough, but I think it's happening in September

Date: 2020-07-26 11:10 am (UTC)Athanaeum in person was basically an enormous display intended to stimulate conversation between the presenters and whomever stopped by. There were one or two Laurels "assigned" to each participant, both to ensure that someone stopped to talk to everyone, and also to give the Laurels something to talk about in Council - in a Kingdom as large as An Tir, it's easy for people to slip through the cracks, especially if they weren't interested in or couldn't attend the A&S Championship (the Big A&S-Focused Event - super intense, but served as a way to get one's art/craft in front of the Laurels and the Crown) for whatever reason.
The online version was fairly similar, I think. Registrants built a "display page" that showcased whatever they wanted to showcase, and a time slot was scheduled with the registrant and at least one or two Laurels, and I think anyone else who wanted to attend (I couldn't because of time zones, so I'm not entirely sure how the sessions played out). I also think they're having to do more than one "event day", due to volume restrictions on the technology. At any rate, anyone can cruise the display page and leave comments at any time before, during, and after the "official" day of the event. It requires, obviously, some back-end technical organisation to make it work - I can put you in touch with the people who ran it, if you like.
Here's the event website.
I've not been to any event where there has been a Laurel Sponsored Display, yet, and I'm super interested in an online format, so I'm looking forward to what happens as things progress, here!
