Site update - Scroll no. 10
2005-01-31 12:52 pmWell, I know you've all been sitting on the edge of your seats (ahem) waiting for me to take pictures and update my illumination pages and I finally have! My latest scroll, another Award of Arms was presented last weekend, and seemed to be well recieved, however, after looking at it before going home from the site yesterday I discovered a spot I had utterly forgotten to paint!
You can imagine my itching fingers to correct that - luckily the recipient lives in my very own shire and we see each other usually twice a week, so I was able to persuade her to let me have it back, fix the error and return it to her tomorrow.
The up-side of that is that I could take pictures of the finished scroll, signatures and all! I took full advantage of that and updated my pages with lots and lots of detailed close-ups and of course the full scroll, as well as updating the write-up with all the other photos I had already taken.
Anyway, surf on over to the website and you will see it all finished.
While updating I - as usual - started thinking about ways to improve the layout and presentation of this section of the site. I can never leave well enough alone, there is always something I think I can change or do better. So I took away all the detail thumbnails that I previously dumped at the bottom of each scroll-page on this one, because, frankly there were too many of them and the over-view got cluttered and you lost the progression. All detail shots are of course linked to in the text, but I'll just skip the thumbs.
I was also asked how many hours I had spent on this and the answer is I have not a clue. All I know is that the figure is not horrifically large nor pitifully small. I am not really interested in knowing how long I take to do a certain thing. I'll do it for as long as it takes and for the enjoyment I get from seeing my own work get better.

Date: 2005-02-01 05:40 am (UTC)i got some old photos on a couple of things i've done out yesterday. unfortunately they are all very unsharp. but it's all i have left of the things i've produced, so i've thought about using them anyway on my websites illumination section (which i have not started on yet). I'm hoping one might be able to get the general layout of them somehow...
