Well, I had the fabric company send me out one sample. Which was good, but too expensive, so I talked to a sales representative and she sent me on another sample which was half the cost, but much too loosely woven and coarse. That came in the mail today, so I called back immediately and asked after other products, specifically asking after canvas in a tabby weave. She said she might have some twill weave stuff at home and that she would check.

Hopefully, she will find some canvas in their storage, in enough quantities to last me. But, I am becoming disheartened. I'm not giving up yet, though. It would be fantastic to get the fabric and make the tent, but I have to be confident that my materials are good enough, otherwise I've wasted a whole lot of time and money for nothing. We'll be trying some of the local places here, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe IKEA has some canvas.

In any case, the news is the same, no news to report. I did start sketching out a pair of loo-signs to put up at mom's school. She wanted me to illuminate a pair of "Laddies" and "Lasses" signs.

Hi Lia,

you might want to check out Boesner. they have canvas of various weights on HUGE rolls. I looked at using some of their stuff for our pavillion but then we ended up buying it from a notehr source that was less expensive but now no longer available.

From the land of made-lots-of-tents recently, how much are you looking for? I used 36" sunforger that I got for about $4 a yard (with shipping). The only catch is that you have to buy it by the bolt--and that's 100 yards.

sunforger is what we made our pavillion from hell from as well. It withstoof gale force 12 winds at DW one year. stays dry inside too.

Well, I need in the region of 35 metres (114 feet) at 150 cm (60") wide cloth - that's what I've counted on in any case.

Sunforger would be very very cool indeed as that's what I've heard recommended by lots of people all over the Knowne World.

But, that's by the bolt, full? Meaning I would need to get 2 bolts at least. However, if that price of 4 dollars covers shipping to Sweden it might be worth it. Do you know if it does? And who sells it?

I bought it here: www.highlandtents.com. They direct ship it from the manufacturer. I'm not sure about shipping to Sweden, but it can't hurt to ask! :)

Sorry for not responding here. I went to the site and I sent them an email asking about it. unfortunately by the time they got back to me I'd already found materials locally.

Besides that I'd probably have gotten stuck paying double the cost to tolls etc.

But THANK YOU! for the linkage :)
