Seam allowance folded over and pressed. See how I've made progress with the sleeves. I pinned the life out of them, then I started with the folding down of 1.5 cm seam allowance all around. In the opening at the top of the sleeve I've left the silk to butt up to the edge, but at the sleevehead and at the back I've folded the wool over the silk-look-alike.

There's a bit of awkwardness toward the cuff where I need the silk to go over the wool for a nice unbroken circle of silk inside the wool at the cuff, but I think I managed it. There's also a close-up of the cuff in the gallery. All of a sudden I lost steam though. Don't know _exactly_ how to proceed, how to use thread to stitch it all down like this, don't know what thread to use. Black silk thread probably. Don't know if I want to topstitch all around the half-sleeves or not. Does anyone have suggestions for that?

A Bit Later:
Inching forward, folded, pinned and pressed the other half of the sleeve in the pictures. Taking a break, maybe I will get both sleeves ready for sewing today. In that case I'll bring them on the plane.

A Bit Later Still:
Well, w00t for me, I pinned and pressed the other sleeve too. Might even get some of the many many pins back into the pinbox today too!

p.s. Notice how I'm editing posts instead of posting new ones all the time to spam everybody with my babbling? Yeah, thought I'd give it a whirl.

Sometimes I am quite pleased with my own efforts. For example using the green silk thread (pulled from the fabric) and hemstitching as per [livejournal.com profile] myladyswardrobe's description in a comment I started at the sleevehead and invisibly stuck the folded over wool to the lining on the inside.

My stitches were perfect, nary a thread was visible. OK, once or twice when I got insecure about how much I actually needed to catch of the wool to be sure it was stuck down you can see about 1 mm of thread. It was, however, quite time-consuming makig sure I didn't go through to the outside, I got enough of the seam allowance and came out at the right place, so when the green thread I was working with ran out I started anew with black silk instead. That worked just as well, only the black thread is basically invisible against the wool so I could afford the luxury of working with slightly larger margins and the speed picked up a bit.

I have only done the sleevehead and around the bottom curve to a little before the silk starts before I got antsy so I put my sleeves away and have since cleaned up, packed stuff for the trip north and taken a refreshing shower. On I go with mundane details )

I won't be entirely offline up north of course, and I am bringing the ropa and the gothic army dress to finish while I am there, so look for a couple of updates.
